Penticton is a summer lakeside town surrounded by vineyards. As such, there are multiple casual hotel chains and several B&Bs attached to wineries. If you are looking for a truly local or decadent experience, we’d recommend you research any of the B&Bs to determine who offer the ambiance you desire. There are also multiple budget-friendly Inns and Motels in the area and B&Bs if that is more appealing to you.

Please note: Penticton is a very popular summer destination and some families book their visits a year in advance! If you want to book something on your own (outside of our reserved room blocks) please do so AS SOON AS POSSIBLE as they sell out!

Also remember to check the distance from Penticton. We recommend you stay no further than Naramata to the east of the lake or Summerland to the west. We did visit several hotels in town and here are our findings:

(Note: We are working to secure a shuttle service from hotels to the wedding, and back to hotels on the day)

Features: Lovely outdoor swimming pool with a poolside bar, outdoor hot tub, outdoor BBQ plus a restaurant/pub on site, Starbucks and Tim Hortons immediately across the highway and while the hotel is a little bit older, most rooms have been newly renovated and have huge soaker bathtubs! We will stay here ourselves.

Considerations: It’s not exactly in town but is only about a 10-15 min walk away. This hotel is family-friendly and while school holidays will not have started yet, there is a children’s playground on premises. If noise is a concern we recommend booking a room in the tower facing the golf course. The view is beautiful and it’s much further away from the pool. However, these rooms are being renovated this winter so we were not able to see them in their new shiny format, though they were already quite nice and spacious.

Four Points by Sheraton Penticton at the Convention Centre

Rendering from the early plan - very accurate to what we saw

Typical room

Brand spankin’ new business hotel - Preferred booking rate below!

Hotel website: https://www.marriott.com/…
Booking link: Click here

Features: The hotel was not even open yet when we visited (should be open by December 2023). It has a stunning rooftop terrace that overlooks the town to the lake and hills beyond. The rooms are nice, spacious and this will likely be the quietest hotel of the three we are reviewing. This is because the hotel caters to business travellers.

Considerations: It is aimed at business travellers because it is beside the Trade & Convention Centre which shares a complex with a sporting event space, and though there is not much else nearby, it’s only about a 10-15 minute walk to the coffee shops etc. near the Ramada or the Lakeside area, and there is due to be a restaurant opening in the lobby. There is a pool but it is small and indoors, though the gym is very nice. Every room has a walk-in shower, no bathtubs. If you don’t need any resort-like onsite amenities it would be a very comfortable place to stay with an easy to walk to town. Some rooms are available with kitchenettes.

They have not held any rooms aside for us, so if you want to book in here we advise you to move quickly, as summer vacationers may well start taking up space soon!

Penticton Lakeside Resort and Conference Centre

The resort from the lake

Standard room

On the lake, but also in the party zone

Hotel website: https://www.pentictonlakesideresort.com/

Features: This is the only hotel we looked at that is right on the water. It’s beautiful! There is a pub for casual eats and a very nice restaurant on the dock for finer dining. The rooms are nice enough and spacious. You can walk right outside with your coffee in the morning along the lake front. The hotel is basically right in town.

Considerations: The pub turns into a nightclub at night and goes until after midnight. Apparently some rooms furthest from the nightclub or in the new “West Wing” tower are quiet but it may be hard to ensure you can secure those. We stayed here and found the noise very disruptive for sleep even on the top floor. However, if you sleep like a log and really want to be by the water, this place is lovely.
